This picture was taken in 1944. The boy in the picture is sixteen years old, the same age as some of you. He was a student, like you. He had a family and friends, like you. He had dreams for the future, like you. However, this boy's life experiences were extremely different and in many ways unimaginable for most people.
This is Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the Holocaust and later an author.
